Printshop Tour | Thames-Side Print Studio

In an attempt to combat our brutal jetlag we headed straight from Heathrow to the Thames-Side Print Studio, and toured one of London’s premier open-access professional printmaking shops perched along the River Thames.

After landing in London last week, our literal first stop off the plane was to the Woolwich-based printshop, Thames-Side Print Studio. Greeted by the lovely Carolyn Nicoll, Studio Director and toured through the space by Nick Richards, Studio Technician we got a real sense of where the shop fits into the ecosystem of London’s rich print community. Having shown up during one of their twice-weekly days of open shop access (open hours for members who are not among the core key-holder group) it was clear how diverse their community of members is; encompassing artists who are fresh from art school printmaking programs all the way through to professional, seasoned printers.

Below we share a tour of their silkscreen, etching and relief facilities - not pictured: the kitchen area where we were treated to the tastiest Ethiopian food for lunch, thank you Carolyn!
