Succulents and Skyscrapers: Touring the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney
Well before we were all a bit more woke to duck health issues, we spent many weekends while I was growing up feeding old bread to the ducks at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney. Surprisingly despite its proximity to the center of the city (you can see skyscrapers lurching up beyond the edge of the park), it not been a destination for me on any of the trips I’ve made home over the last 10 years.
Traveling solo I spent a muggy, grey morning reacquainting myself with its technicolor flower beds, structural succulent garden and dreamy, steamy scenes from inside of its fern house. The wedding I was in town to celebrate the following weekend also happened inside the gardens - on the Eucalyptus Lawn - so this visit has intertwined beautifully with this special Sydney space.
